Editor_Note

Absorption spectroscopy is used to determine the presence of or amount of a particular substance in a sample from its absorption spectrum. When the sample interacts with the radiating field, the sample absorbs energy, i.e. photons, and the intensity of absorption (radiation absorbed by the sample) varies as a function of frequency, and this variation is the absorption spectrum.
