Skeletal tissue that is avascular, rich in glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and typically includes chondrocytes within isolated lacunae. Cartilage tissue is deposited by chondroblasts. Regular connective tissue, which consists of chondrocytes and related cells, the intercellular matrix of which is chondrified.
