DEFINITION |

DesignNote |
The 101 amino acid prepro-form of gastrin can be cleaved between alanine residue 21 and serine 22 to generate the 80 amino acid progastrin. Intracellular gastrointestinal progastrin can be further cleaved to form the main circulating biologically active forms gastrin-34 (big gastrin) and gastrin-17 (little gastrin). Other processed forms are possible including gastrin-71, gastrin-52, gastrin-14, and gastrin-6. (UniProt)
