Definitions
subdivision of front of trunk, each instance of which has as its constitutional part the bony pelvis; it is demarcated from the abdomen by the plane of superior pelvic aperture; together with the thorax and abdomen constitutes the trunk. Examples: There is only one pelvis. Old definition (retired 03-17-2017): Subdivision of abdomen, which is demarcated from the abdomen proper by the plane of the superior pelvic aperture, and from the perineum by the inferior surface of the pelvic diaphragm; together with the abdomen proper, it constitutes the abdomen.
