A tendency to social disinhibition can be acquired after traumaticbrain injury and may be described as insensitivity to others. Manifestions of social disinhibition may include (1) insertion of poorly considered utterances including insensitive remarks,overly intimate information, sexual references, and swear words, (2) failure to adhereto the rules of discourse leading to poor turn-taking, excessive side tracks, off topics,and talking too much, and (3) speaking from an egocentric perspective, that is,lacking concern, selfishness, childishness, arguing, not getting along with others. |
