Definitions |
An orange-yellow powder that is soluble in carbon disulfide and practically insoluble in both water and organic solvents. Selenium sulfide is used as an ingredient in antidandruff shampoos and as a constituent of fungicides. When heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes of sulfur oxides and selenium. The primary routes of potential human exposure to selenium sulfide are dermal contact and inhalation. Contact with selenium sulfide can cause severe redness or irritation of the skin. It is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen. (NCI05) |
