Definition

A cephalosporin that is the N-phospho prodrug of ceftaroline. A broad-spectrum antibiotic, it is active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It is used for the treatment of adults with acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections.

Ceftaroline fosamil is a cephalosporin antibacterial indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by designated susceptible bacteria: Acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections. Community-acquired bacterial pneumonia.
