This bacteria is catalase negative, alpha hemolytic, produces acid from maltose, lactose, sucrose and trehalose, and produces beta glucuronidase. A. viridans is rarely pathogenic in humans but may be associated with urinary tract infections and endocarditis in immunocompromised patients. |
