Definitions
A light gray region on the dorsal surface of a fertilized oocyte. It is fully formed by the beginning of the first cleavage, and forms as a result of cortical rotation of the intermal cytoplasm and occurs opposite the sperm entry point. It is later the site where the Spemann organizer will form at the gastrula stage.
