Definitions
A large articulated seta, with thick and long shaft and robust socket. Macrosetae are inervated by three neurons and become erected when the hemolymph pressure increases. Nerve impulses are generated only during the erection phase. They occur mainly on appendages, but sometimes similar setae occur on the opisthosoma as well.
