Definitions
This aperture, also known as the pelvic inlet, is a virtual oblique plane passing through the sacral promontory posteriorly and anteriorly the upper border of the pubic symphysis via the linea terminalis: the plane delineates the cephalic (superior) cavity of false pelvis (itself part of abdomen proper cavity) from the caudal (inferior) cavity of true pelvis.
