A condition of mental dysfunction in which a person loses contact with reality. DELUSIONS, HALLUCINATIONS, CONFUSION, DISORIENTATION, and PARANOIA are common in psychosis. In the person with Parkinson’s disease, psychosis can develop as a separate disease entity, as a manifestation of the brain deterioration taking place as a result of the Parkinson’s, or as a side effect of ANTIPARKINSON’S MEDICATIONS.
