Pyelonephritis

Definitions
[MSH Definition]: Inflammation of the KIDNEY involving the renal parenchyma (the NEPHRONS); KIDNEY PELVIS; and KIDNEY CALICES. It is characterized by ABDOMINAL PAIN; FEVER; NAUSEA; VOMITING; and occasionally DIARRHEA. [CTCAE Definition]: A disorder characterized by an infectious process involving the kidney. [CSP Definition]: inflammation of the kidney and its pelvis due to infection. [NCIt Definition]: An inflammatory process affecting the kidney. The cause is most often bacterial, but may also be fungal in nature. Signs and symptoms may include fever, chills, flank pain, painful and frequent urination, cloudy or bloody urine, and confusion. [NICHD Definition]: An infection of the kidney. [HPO Definition]: An inflammation of the kidney involving the parenchyma of kidney, the renal pelvis (FMA:15575) and the kidney calices.
