taxon_notes

The fibularis tertius, commonly associated with human bipedalism (e.g., Lewis, 1989, see above), was present in almost half (3/7) of the dissected bonobos (in the fetus, infant Etje, and adolescent Jasiri), going to metatarsal V-exactly as it normally does in humans-in the fetus and infant, and to the proximal phalanx of digit 5 in the adolescent [DOI:10.3389/fevo.2018.00053]
