Vaccines range from inactivated or attenuated microorganisms (bacteria and viruses), enhanced autologous tumor cells, tumor antigens or epitopes that are used to elicit host immune responses. Vaccines are used for the prevention, amelioration, or treatment of infectious diseases and cancer.
