Astrocytes may give rise to astrocytomas (astrocytoma) or glioblastoma multiforme (see glioblastoma). Oligodendrocytes give rise to oligodendrogliomas (oligodendroglioma) and ependymocytes may undergo transformation to become ependymoma; choroid plexus neoplasms; or colloid cysts of the third ventricle.
