<p>Most insect bites are harmless, though they sometimes cause discomfort. Bee, wasp, and hornet stings and fire ant bites usually hurt. <a href="https://medlineplus.gov/mosquitobites.html">Mosquito</a> and flea bites usually itch. Insects can also spread diseases. In the United States, some mosquitoes spread <a href="https://medlineplus.gov/westnilevirus.html">West Nile virus</a>.
