Algorithme : un cas sera retenu pour examen plus approfondi s'il présente au moins un des PT figurant dans la catégorie A (portée étroite) ou une combinaison quelconque d'au moins un PT de chacune des trois catégories B, C et D (portée large). Catégorie A (portée étroite) : le PT Syndrome malin des neuroleptiques, le PT Syndrome sérotoninergique ou le PT Hyperthermie maligne représentant des spécifiquement le SMN ou une des pathologies similaires : syndrome sérotoninergique ou hyperthermie maligne (lesquels peuvent aisément faire l'objet d'un diagnostic erroné de SMN). Définitions des catégories B, C et D* (portée large) : Catégorie B =(PT se rapportant à la fièvre); Catégorie C (PT se rapportant à la rigidité musculaire ou aux lésions) ; Catégorie D (autres PT pertinents se rapportant au SMN, y compris les résultats d'investigations). *Noter que la catégorie A correspond à la catégorie 1 de la documentation du CIOMS. Les catégories B, C et D correspondent aux termes de recherche de catégorie 2 se rapportant à la fièvre, aux termes de recherche de catégorie 2 se rapportant à la rigidité musculaire/aux lésions, et aux autres termes de recherche de catégorie 2 pertinents se rapportant au SMN, respectivement.
