quality of optical resolution

Definitions
For an eye to be capable of resolving fine detail, the angular separation between the receptors must be small. Therefore, in compound eyes the smaller the angle between the optical axes of two adjacent ommatidia, the greater the potential of the eye to resolve detail. The interommatidial angle can be measured in a number of ways.
