Definitions

Chylomicrons are one of the major classes of lipoproteins. Like VLDL, they function to transport triacylglycerol (TAG) in the circulation. Chylomicrons are synthesized in the small intestine by enterocytes from absorbed lipids. Endothelial cells in the circulation can process TAG from chylomicrons by means of the cell-surface enzyme lipoprotein lipase, which digests the TAG to fatty acids and monoglycerides. Any deviation from the normal circulating concentration of chylomicrons.
