Hypermethylation can have a number of effects, including: Cancer Hypermethylation can inactivate tumor suppressor genes, which can lead to the formation of tumors. It can also be a marker for poor prognosis in some cancers, such as lung cancer. Overmethylation disorder Also known as Low-Folate disorder, hypermethylation can cause a range of symptoms, including anxiety, panic attacks, sleep disorders, and sensitivities to environmental toxins.
