| DEFINITION |
A diverse group of lesions characterized by excessive proliferation of trophoblasts. These include premalignant lesions: hydatidiform mole (complete and partial) and malignant disorders: invasive mole, choriocarcinoma, placental site trophoblastic tumor and miscellaneous trophoblastic lesions. These tumors are very chemosensitive. All produce Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin which is utilized as a tumor marker. - 2003 |
