Acronym | CSEO |
Visibility | Public |
Description | The CSEO has potential to become a widely used standard within the academic and industrial community. Mainly because of the emerging need of systems toxicology to controlled vocabularies and also the lack of suitable ontologies for this domain, the CSEO prepares the ground for integrative systems-based research in the exposure science. |

isDefinedBy | A differentiated adenocarcinoma arising from the follicular cells of the thyroid gland. The nuclear features which characterise the thyroid gland papillary carcinoma are absent. It is linked to radiation and comprises approximately 10% to 15% of thyroid cancers. Clinically, it usually presents as a solitary mass in the thyroid gland. It is generally unifocal and thickly encapsulated and shows invasion of the capsule or the vessels. Diagnostic procedures include: thyroid function tests, thyroid radioisotope scanning, thyroid ultrasound and fine needle biopsy. Treatment options include: partial or complete thyroidectomy. Adjuvant treatment options include: radioiodine therapy, TSH suppression and external radiation.
