Diarylsulfonylurea Compound

Definitions
A sulfonylurea compound containing aryl groups with potential antineoplastic activity. Originally developed as herbicides, diarylsulfonylureas have shown a broad spectrum of antitumor activity in vivo. The precise mechanism of antitumor action has not yet been elucidated, however, certain diarylsulfonylurea compounds have been shown in preliminary studies to exert antimitotic effects through their inhibition of tubulin polymerization, and others have been shown to be effective antitumor agents in animal models by the mechanism of uncoupling mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation.
