|
DesignNote |
The active form of the growth factor, transforming growth factor alpha, is produced when proteolytic cleavage removes 39 amino acids from the N-terminus and 71 amino acids from the C-terminus of protransforming growth factor alpha. The precursor is a transmembrane protein and the mature form is a secreted protein. (UniProt) In esophageal adenocarcinoma patients who received high-dose radiation and chemotherapy, tumors that either persistently expressed or had increased TGFA expression was associated with a worse prognosis.
