Definitions
Some of the factors that interfere with the degree of adherence to drug treatment are grouped into so-called factors related to the patient's condition. With them we refer to the particular demands that the patient faces due to his condition of chronic patient. Here we find the importance of an adequate cognitive level, as well as the level of physical dependence/independence of the patient (e.g. whether most or all of the time he or she is in bed). The presence of symptoms and their severity, as well as the progression of symptoms and the disease itself, are also factors addressed here. In addition, if the patient has a condition of drug addiction, comorbidity or does not perceive with clarity and good judgement the importance of following the treatment, it can damage the degree of adherence to the treatment.
