Definitions |
A simple floating point number defining the lower or upper limit of an expectation value (E-value). An expectation value (E-Value) is the expected number of observations which are at least as extreme as observations expected to occur by random chance. The E-value describes the number of hits with a given score or better that are expected to occur at random when searching a database of a particular size. It decreases exponentially with the score (S) of a hit. A low E value indicates a more significant score. |
