MSH2001A heterodimer molecule widely expressed on cells of hematopoietic origin. CD11a antigen comprises the alpha chain and the CD18 antigen (ANTIGENS, CD18) the beta chain. LFA-1 is a major receptor of T-cells, B-cells, and granulocytes. It mediates the leukocyte adhesion reactions underlying cytolytic conjugate formation, helper T-cell interactions, and antibody-dependent killing by natural killer cells and granulocytes. Intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) has been defined as a ligand for LFA-1.

NCIIntegrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. ITGAL encodes the integrin alpha L chain. This I-domain containing alpha integrin combines with the beta 2 chain (ITGB2) to form the integrin lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1), which is expressed on all leukocytes. LFA-1 plays a central role in leukocyte intercellular adhesion through interactions with its ligands, ICAMs 1-3 (intercellular adhesion molecules 1 through 3), and also functions in lymphocyte costimulatory signaling.
